About Us

Alta Claims Institute was founded by Eddy Canavan and Roxy Canavan with one mission. We provide education and tools important to Workers’ Compensation Claim Examiners. Our claim manuals were designed to cover the salient issues Examiners face when tasked with adjusting claims in multiple jurisdictions.

  • President & CEO

    Roxy has over a decade of experience in the casualty industry. During her tenure she was tasked with managing services for varying organizations working directly with several fortune 100 and 500 companies. In 2019, Roxy decided to form Alta Claims and Insurance Services with the vision of innovating solutions that result in superior outcomes for her clients. Prior to joining the insurance industry, Roxy taught preschool in California and Texas.

  • Sr. Claims Advisor

    Eddy has 30 years of experience in the casualty industry. He began his career in 1993 examining claims for California School Districts. Later Eddy assisted in designing the workers’ compensation program for LA USD. Eddy has served as a quality assurance manger for a TPA completing audits of claims handling for School Districts. Eddy holds a California certificate to administer self-insured claims, his associates in claims and risk management and secured his BA in business administration from CSU, San Bernardino.

  • Sr. Claims Auditor

    Deanna began her career in 1986 with a claims administrator as an examiner. In 2017, Deanna transitioned to Risk Management for Shasta County, assisting with program design, claims management and coverage issues. Most recently, Deanna worked for a claims administrator leading a team responsible for resolving problematic claim issues. Deanna has a myriad of experience in varying aspects of the casualty industry. Deanna holds a California certificate to administer self-insured claims.

  • Claims Analyst

    Holly has a decade of experience in managing casualty claims. For Alta, she assists with analyzing client audits, constructing customized reports and trending. Upon completing an audit, Holly works to provide recommendations on training and job aids. Before entering the casualty industry, Holly managed a territory for a large retailer dealing with visual design. She secured her associates degree from Chaffey College.
